The scheme was to enable students to get an insight into an engineering environment from a practical view point and help them understand how to apply their learned theoretical knowledge into an industrial environment.
It was also a valuable opportunity for students to learn about the different career avenues they could explore in a variety of disciplines.
Hornbill provides Turn Key Solutions for specialist services in the field of process control, instrumentation, electrical systems, high voltage and training. A representative from each department spoke to students about the various aspects of the industry with practical examples and exercises.
‘I would like to thank the whole team at Hornbill for a wonderful welcome. It was so interesting to gain an insight into your company and the industry as a whole. I hope we are able to organise another session in the near future.’ Claudia Rabello Davies – FD Eng Programme Manager
‘Having been involved, not only with the FD/ Eng steering committee but also with the development of Hornbill’s own apprenticeship scheme, it was a fantastic opportunity for Hornbill, Swansea University, local colleges and students to be able to meet and forge a strong and lasting relationship that will benefit all parties in years to come”. Richard Manley-Hornbill Workshop Manager.
