Hornbill Engineering have excellent opportunities to join our successful High Voltage Electrical Team.

The successful candidate will support numerous projects throughout the UK, so ability to travel is necessary.  Previous experience of working within High Voltage wiring and transformer builds and refurbishing HV electrical transformers is an advantage.

HIGH VOLTAGE COMMISSIONING ENGINEER

Due to further expansion, there is an excellent opportunity to join our successful and professional Team at Hornbill Engineering.

 

A HV Commissioning Engineer with experience in Installation, Protection and Commissioning is sought to maintain and develop specific areas of their project functions.

The successful HV Engineer:

  • Be experienced in protection and control systems associated with transmission and distribution.
  • Be able to demonstrate the ability to function check basic and complex protection relays.
  • Be able to fault find on existing protection and control systems.
  • Liaise with clients/staff and respond to specific deadlines.
  • Computer knowledge is essential.
  • Experience of project engineering
  • Should be suitably qualified with a proven track record.
     

Project cycle duties will include:

  • Assist project managers with estimating of protection work.
  • Carry out function tests on protection relays.
  • Install and commission protection systems based on customer requirements.
  • Carry out primary and secondary injection testing of protection systems.
  • Undertake fault level calculations and issue settings to client for acceptance.
  • Apply settings to the protection relays and clarify and discrepancies.
  • Checking of detailed drawing designs and apply as necessary.
  • Commissioning of power systems including breakers, transformers, capacitors etc.
  • Manage relationships with clients and staff.
  • Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental responsibilities.
  • Assist accounts department with month end reports.

 

Previous employment as an HV Commissioning Engineer is an advantage.

Instrument Technician
Instrument Technicians - West Wales

Hornbill Engineering have excellent opportunities for Instrument Technicians for permanent and contract personnel

Applicants should have a time served apprenticeship or equivalent training and suitable supporting qualifications. Possession of Compex is an advantage, but training would be given to candidates who otherwise fully meet the job description.

Typical experience of installation, calibration, loop/function testing, inspection and commissioning andtraditional maintenance support experience is desirable.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate industrial experience from the Oil & Gas, Chemical, Metals Processing, Utility or similar industry sectors. Differing sector experience to the above may be considered with a view to further training being given.
